Going Green

Going Green includes a number of initiatives that promote an environmentally friendly workplace and help prevent or offset unintentional environmental damage (such as carbon emissions) caused during the normal course of business:

  • Trees for Travel: in coordination with Trees Atlanta, a non-profit citizens' group dedicated to protecting and improving the urban environment by planting and conserving trees, TRX will sponsor the purchase and planting of a tree in the Atlanta metro area for every business trip a TRX employee takes.
  • Carbon Emissions Model: TRX is launching a new model that allows companies to calculate the level of CO2 contributed to the atmosphere due to air travel, using companies' historical travel data. TRX will donate 15% of the proceeds from this model to Native Energy, a leading national marketer of renewable energy credits (RECs) and carbon offsets. Native Energy uses companies' carbon offsets to help build wind energy projects on Native American and Native Alaskan land.
  • Environmentally conscious facilities upgrades whenever possible, such as environmentally friendly paint products used in office renovations.
  • Recycling programs in every office location worldwide.
  • Flexible work scheduling for employees so they can work from their homes on occasion, decreasing the carbon emissions that result from long commutes.

Volunteerism

The XTEND program provides TRX employees with annual paid leave hours to volunteer at non-profit organizations of their choice or company-sponsored initiatives.

TRX has a long history of community involvement. XTEND honors each TRX office's  fund raising and volunteer efforts and encourages the development of new community-based  programs. Examples of organizations and causes TRX offices currently support  include:

  • Bryan's House, a nationally acclaimed special-care facility for children and teens affected by HIV/AIDS
  • Relay for Life, an event designed to celebrate cancer survivorship and raise money to help the American Cancer Society
  • Junior Achievement, an age-appropriate education platform delivered by volunteers to help young people become better prepared to understand business and succeed in a global economy
  • The American Red Cross and LifeSouth Blood Drives
  • Red Nose Day (United Kingdom), UK-wide fundraising event organized by Comic Relief to help poor and disadvantaged people in the UK and Africa

Corporate Giving

Every year, TRX provides donations to select foundations in the travel industry  to support their missions and goals. For example, TRX is a long-standing contributor  to the NBTA Foundation, which provides financial resources to conduct travel  industry research and to provide scholarship opportunities for business travel professionals.

In addition, TRX maintains two internal programs to provide financial assistance  to employees during difficult times:

  • TRX Relief Fund: Developed in response to Hurricane Ivan, which had a significant impact to TRX's Milton, Florida employees and their families, the TRX Relief Fund enables employees to donate money to assist other TRX teammates in financial crisis. TRX matches contributions.

  • TRX Leave Donation Program: This program allows TRX employees to donate available paid time off to co-workers who are on unpaid leave due to circumstances outside of their control.
